Healthy Oxford Welcomes Philippa Rayney as a Visiting Practitioner

Phillipa (2)We’re very excited to be welcoming Philippa as a guest practitioner at Healthy Oxford for the Summer months!  She will be offering her expertise in Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy (ATMAT) and Integrative Body Work.

Philippa first trained in massage in 2005 and ATMAT in 2008. In 2009 she went on to attend an advanced course in ATMAT for fertility, pregnancy, birth and postpartum as well as a course focusing on digestive health which blends ATMAT with Chi Nei Tsang (abdominal massage from China). Philippa uses a blend of knowledge and intuitive touch in her practice and works in a deeply holistic way with her clients exploring all areas of their wellbeing.

What is ATMAT?

ATMAT is  a non-invasive, external massage technique. It guides internal abdominal & pelvic organs into their proper position for optimum health & well-being. ATMAT improves organ function by releasing physical & emotional congestion & tension from the abdomen & restoring the flow of blood, lymph, nerve impulse and chi. This massage is effective for both men & women.

The technique applies anatomy, physiology & naprapathy (study of ligaments, joints & muscles), with Ancient Maya healing techniques to address common female and male complaints. During the treatment instruction is given in self care massage and techniques for use at home.

ATMAT can help our health in many ways including painful, irregular/absent periods, endometriosis, cysts, fibroids, optimising fertility and pregnancy and digestive issues to name a few.

Philippa’s work is in-depth, meticulous and spending time and holding space is paramount for this sensitive approach.

An Initial session will be – 2.5 to 3 hrs (£120)

Follow up sessions – 2 hrs (£95)

Integrative Bodywork

Philippa first trained in Holistic Massage in 2005. Over the years she has furthered her massage training to include pregnancy massage, deep tissue, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, joint mobilisation and abdominal & pelvic massage. She has also received a lot of massage of many types which has informed her practice greatly.

Philippa integrates these different techniques to provide a unique treatment for the individual before her. Intuitive and energetic touch is also an important aspect to her treatments. Focus can be on full body massage to bring about deep relaxation or a more remedial approach to help relieve pain and tension in specific areas.

1.5 hrs £65

What her clients say about this profound and caring practice:

I have been a client of Philippa’s since January.  She certainly has a vast knowledge of women’s health issues and effective alternative remedies, but first and foremost, she has looked at me and my needs rather than any manual.  She has introduced incremental changes to my self-care plan with a beautiful sensitivity that keep me and my lifestyle at the centre, and she has consistently gone the extra mile to ensure I have everything I need to proceed with confidence.  Above all, I really feel that she cares about me and my progress and is committed to doing the absolute best she can for me.  She is compassionate, straightforward and inspires trust, and I feel entirely safe to share with her the details of my cycle.

Offerings from visiting therapist: Silvie

silvieWe are delighted to welcome Silvie Hylton-Potts back to Healthy Oxford as a Visiting Therapist from 13th – 18th April 2019! Silvie offers a range of treatments to help re-activate your body’s natural healing ability, and to restore balance to body, mind and energy flow. Treatments include: Cranio-Sacral Therapy, Intuitive Healing, Zen Shiatsu, Reiki and Ayurvedic Face Massage. (A 55 minute session costs £45 and 85 minutes is £65.)

Treatments can be beneficial for a range of conditions such as: back/neck/shoulder pain, headaches/migraines, digestive/menstrual issues, injury/whiplash, stress/emotional-related conditions, ear-nose-throat issues and much more. Rather than simply treating symptoms, Silvie aims to address/identify the root causes of any symptoms and can also provide advice on how to maintain the improvements after the treatment/s. Silvie has the ability to ‘see’ inside the client’s body/energy field where the energy is blocked (due to injury, tension or emotional holding patterns) and to quickly clear these blockages using different methods. Free-flowing energy is one of the most important requisites for health and vitality.

Silvie is also available to teach the Reiki Level 2 course – Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May from 9.00am until 1.00pm both days. Open to all who have completed Reiki Level 1 in the traditional Usui lineage. Learn how to use the same energy for distant healing beyond time and space. Also learn a powerful form of mental/emotional healing which can be used both hands-on and sent to someone not physically present.

For further information please see www.cranio-sacral-oxford.com.

For bookings please email her directly on: silviehp@email.com. Daytime, evening and weekend sessions currently available.

Late Summer Retreat in Tuscany with Laura

T1yoga-shala

The “real tradition” of yoga involves being guided from within and trusting one’s own inner reference system

– Quote from Donna Fahri’s keynote speech at the IYTA Conference in Sydney, 2017.

Creating and holding a safe, nurturing space in which individuals are provided with the opportunity to be still, be silent, and reconnect and/or rediscover their inner voice, is one of the greatest gifts a teacher can offer their students.

Yoga retreat daily schedule*:

8.30 – 10.30 – Morning practice, to include meditation, enquiry, pranayama, asana and relaxation.
11 – 1 – Brunch
1 – 5 – will either be personal time – to rest, swim, read, explore surrounding countryside, or include a 2 hour workshop.
5 – 7 – dinner
7.30 – 8.30 – enquiry/meditation
9 – silence and sleep

*please note that the schedule is subject to change and will include silent times.  The second week will be altered to incorporate self-practice and more silence

Where and how to get there?

Casa Martini is situated in the Tuscan countryside, approximately 90 minutes from Pisa airport. Transport can be arranged to collect students from the airport and bring directly to the retreat villa.  Arrangements for this will be made once numbers have been confirmed.

Please do take a look at the website for some further information: https://www.casamartini.eu/

Accommodation and food

The retreat centre is split into three apartments accommodating 2-3 students in each room.  Great consideration and care will be taken to ensure all students are comfortable and sharing appropriately.  If friends and/or families are booking together please just ensure that information is shared when booking.

All food will be locally soured and vegetarian.

When

The dates of the retreat have provisionally been reserved for two weeks – the 7-14th and 14th – 21st of September.  My initial intention was to dedicate the first week to a more relaxed, open approach to the retreat that would appeal to all students of all levels, and the second week would be focused on a deepening immersion into meditation, self-enquiry and self-practice.  This will depend on numbers, and I have the flexibility to adapt in accordance with interest and needs of the group as a whole.  Students would be perfectly welcome to attend both weeks, or just the first, or just the second depending on where they’re at with their individual practice.

How much

The cost of one week retreat will be £610.  If students wish to attend 2 weeks I will be considering a reduced rate for the second week (to be confirmed once numbers have been determined).

This includes:

  • Daily yoga, meditation, pranayama, self-enquiry
  • Workshop sessions and healing gong bath
  • All meals
  • 6 nights accommodation on site
  • Use of natural pool
  • Transfer to and from airport (2 minibuses will be arranged)

This does not include flights.

Payment plans can be arranged on a case-by-case basis.

How to Book

A non-refundable deposit of £150 will be required to reserve a place on the retreat.
