Reiki is a form of hands-on energy healing. Reiki is based on the principle that, at the subtlest level, human beings are actually composed of energy. Whilst the body is designed to heal and rebalance itself, excessive external challenges or internal stress can disrupt our energy flow in particular areas, leading to physical or emotional symptoms such as fatigue, constipation or migraines. Reiki helps to rebalance the person’s energy field and to release any corresponding physical, mental or emotional symptoms.
What happens during a Reiki treatment?
Reiki takes place with the recipient lying down, wearing comfortable clothing. (It is also possible for the person to sit if they are not able to lie down). Using the gentle touch of their hands, the practitioner channels universal energy towards the main charkas (energy centres) and organs of the client’s body, to help rebalance their life-force energy. The energy naturally flows towards any areas of deficiency or blockage, helping the person to heal on whatever levels they need – physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. Treatments can be relaxing, energising, enlightening and / or transformative. The type of healing which occurs will be whatever the person most needs at the time.
